Lotus Support Assistant / LND

We have an issue with our cloud backup partners that causes the Domino Server console to crash out (8.5.2 FP2).

I found out about the IBM Support Assistant and the LND tool (don't worry - I did not install the tool on the server!). I am following the video here: http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/07282009040948PMWEBRN8.htm I'd like to run the LND tool but it appears that I am missing adc.nsf, as it may not be configured properly on our system.

Going through this article http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/library/domino7-serviceability/ , it looks like we do not have an ADC database properly configured. There is mention of a Mail-In Database for diagnostic Reports (Domino Admin - Configuration of server-name/domain-name - Diagnostics tab) but this too is not configured. I'd like for all diagnostic reports to me mailed to me, if possible. We seem to have NSD somewhat configured, as files are being written to IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT directory. But not all files seems to appear as listed in that article, (under "Configuration of Files to Collect" section).

I'd also like DDM configured (seems not to be configured or active at all) to log tracking info. Is there a way of having restarts automatic, but still have the console running on the screen? I know it is possible with the Domino Server service, but then I lose the console... I'd also like to turn on the Fault Analyzer to access the Fault Reports Database.

When I have a collection of all these files then I can analyse properly in the LND tool, and get back to our cloud backup company with more information. But I'd like a more detailed explanation of how all of this could be set up and how each contributes to actually diagnosing the issues (strengths, weaknesses, etc.)

I'd like to hear about other techniques in diagnosing crashes as well - but wondering if they all centralise aorund LND and/or logs, or are there other monitoring utilities out there that can help diagnose/fix issues as well?

Note I am a novice to LD & LN administration :)

Regards,
Stephen
